From Darkness to Light: Breaking the Wall Between You and God

1. Sin Creates Distance from God

  • Sin, especially repeated sin without sorrow, builds a wall between a person and God.

  • This wall makes a person feel far from God's presence.

  • The spirit suffers because it was made to be close to God.

2. Sin Damages the Body, Mind, and Soul

  • Drugs cause mental confusion, anxiety, and addiction; they harm the body and make the soul feel empty.

  • Alcohol affects the mind and mood, hurts the body, and brings guilt to the soul.

  • Gluttony (eating too much) causes health problems and makes people focus on pleasure, not God.

  • Lust and sexual sin bring confusion, shame, and pain to both the body and soul.

3. The Deep Impact of Sexual Sin

  • Sexual sin is very harmful—it hurts the body and spirit.

  • It brings shame, guilt, and emotional pain.

  • It separates a person from God’s love and peace.

4. Repeated Sin Hardens the Heart

  • Sin makes the heart spiritually weak, dry, and far from God.

  • Over time, sin clouds the mind and blocks God's love.

  • Isaiah 59:2 explains that sin separates people from God.

5. Repentance is the Way Back

  • Repentance means turning away from sin and returning to God.

  • Confessing sin brings healing, peace, and joy.

  • God is always ready to forgive and rebuild what is broken.

6. The Importance of the Body as God’s Temple

  • The body should be treated with respect because it belongs to God.

  • Sin like substance abuse and sexual sin dishonors the body.

  • God wants us to keep our bodies clean for His Spirit.

7. How to Protect the Body and Soul

  • Avoid temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13).

  • Keep God’s Word in the heart (Psalm 119:11).

  • Pray, stay in community, and seek accountability.

  • Guard the heart, because all actions flow from it (Proverbs 4:23).

8. The Role of Obedience and Purity

  • Obedience shows love for God (John 14:15).

  • Purity brings closeness to God (Matthew 5:8).

  • A pure life reflects God’s light to others.

9. God’s Forgiveness is Always Available

  • God is patient and wants all to repent (2 Peter 3:9).

  • 1 John 1:9 promises forgiveness and cleansing.

  • Even after failure, God offers a new beginning.

10. A Changed Life is a Light to Others

  • A person who turns from sin shows God's power to transform.

  • Their story becomes hope for others.

  • With God, all things can be made new.
